When is it that someone is considered a Pro Driver?
Can someone be considered a PRO DRIVER just becouse they have been around the hobby for so many years?
What kind of Results should such a driver have and should they consider Results from just CLUB RACING twice a month or do they need to travel around Regularly to large Races and Finish on a cosistent basis?
Lets hear what you guy's think makes a person a "PRO DRIVER". |

| In my opinion it is when a driver can consistently put down lap times that put him in the pro class. If the intermediate class becomes to easy or he/ she always finishes a lap ahead and not just 20 seconds I mean a whole lap or 2 then it is defiantly time to switch classes. Ultimately I think it is up to the driver. We, as drivers have a responsibility to the other drivers to put ourselves in the correct class and I think it may be different at different events. It all boils down to who shows up. Just my 2 cents |

Hey Frank I'm refering to Pro Status not an Expert Driver.
What is the difference between an Expert level Club Racer and A Pro Driver?
Can someone who only Races local Tracks at a Club Level be considered A Pro Driver even if they can not finish 50% of the Races that they enter?

I guess my ignorance is mixing up PRO DRIVER and EXPERT CLASS. Maybe I dont know what you mean by PRO DRIVER. Ohh well I'll just keep having fun at the track. |

| Dave, I don't mean to sound flippant but what does it really matter? Am I going to loose sleep at night because said driver wants to call himself a "pro driver"...I don't think so. Way too much time and energy is spent worrying about what class a driver should race in, or who's classified as what. As Frank and Carlos have so eloquently put it..."let's just have some fun"...the rest will take care of itself! I've been around this hobby for decades, and I'm about as far from a "pro driver" as you can get. :) |

A Pro driver is someone who gets paid to race. Everyone else is either an Amateur or Expert depending on thier skill level. |

Dave, Not sure where you are going here? It doesn't really matter does it? There many factors that could make up what a "Pro" driver is or is not. Depends on who is asked and who is asking. Years ago, the accepted ruled of thumb for a "Pro" driver were the guys that were sponsored and were the fast guys to beat. Many but not all were guys that had been racing longer than most. Today, the factors may and probably have changed somewhat from back then. Many opinions are out there for what a "Pro" driver is or should be. I don't think any one factor or reason would be the correct determining factor or reason for saying a driver is or is not a "Pro" driver. Remember you can be a local "Pro" and still may not get looked at as a "Pro" by your peers. |

+1 for Frank ,+1 for Carlos, +1for Cary,+1 Hooper, +1 for Teufel ,and + 1 for RC Geezer. Just as in life your a Pro when you get paid to do whatever you do,In the RC car racing world Cary said it right theres only a hand full of drivers in the world that get paid alot of money to Win races. When your a pro theres more presure on you to win races ,so it takes some of the fun out of it . Having said that anyone can enter the pro class at any race that I have been too, yes even a novice . You should go Pro Dave ! |
