It seems that electric is making a bit of news lately in the Nor-Cal Region, with many tracks now available to us for racing in the electric scene; well, what are we going to need to run at these tracks?

For any of you track owners who organize the races, or those racers who are on top of your game with product knowledge, help us out with understanding what products we should be running, and what rules may apply when selecting our products to put into our race cars.

Here is a sample question that may help us get started;

For example, I would like to race 2wd electric buggy off-road, and I would like to run a modified class, but it looks that there really is no modified classes around that get good turnouts, so then what class can I run that allows the cars to go a little faster than stock?  So then, what equipment do I need to run, and do any rules apply to these classes to stay legal for both local and ROAR regulations?

The reason I ask, is because a few more tracks seem to be putting electric races on their schedule, and turnouts are starting to grow equal with nitro.  So diversity and growth is happening, and I would love to see the Nor-Cal Region grow and measure to compare with the likes of So-Cal and there love for the sport.

This is the Brushless Product Forum, so please keep your answers in line with the forum category.  Meaning what motors do you suggest and Speed controls and anything else that falls in line....

That's pretty east to answer. Most tracks within the area all run 13.5 2wd buggy regularly. So that is the place to start since you can show up to most any track and find the class.

Some do run mod and a good place to start is 10.5. It's faster than 13.5 but still controllable.

2s lipos will get you the right power to use and run time also.

Here is my current setup.
Tekin Redline Sensored 13.5 Brushless Motor
Tekin RS Electronic Speed Control (ESC)
Tekin 3400 2s Lipo Power Cell

They have been working great, I'm happy with the tekin equipment.

Would that work for something like a T4 or just for buggies. I've been thinking about trying the electric stuff out.

Is the set-up real expensive and what kind of maint. is required to run electric?

My setup will work for any vehicle 1/10, just get the gearing and ESC settings correct. As for expense, new or used you're probably looking around $100 to $250. There are always some great deals out there on used stuff as most smart shopper's already know.

So it's actually cheaper than a Nitro Mill and I aleady have recievers and lipo charger so a couple lipo's and I'd be set.

Oh wait, I'd need something to put it into but it is very appealing for the future.
