I'm curious to what peoples vehicles weigh, does the difference in weight really matter?
I was at CVR this past weekend for the North vs South and most of the newest vehicles were out on the track putting some good laps down, but the most astonishing part was how quickly these cars would accelerate out of the hole and how nimble they looked. I understand that gearing and balance has a lot to do with it, but we weighed several cars to see how they stacked up.
Tyler Viks Kyosho MP9 ~7lbs 8oz
Jason Smiths MBX6 ~7lbs 6oz
Joel Hernandez 8ight ~ 7lbs 10oz
Levi Wyren's D8 ~ 8lbs 2oz
Joel Hernandez D8 ~ 7lbs 11oz
This is kind of interesting with both D8's weighed of mine and Levi's, we basically had the same setup and motor/pipe combo installed, but how can it be so much different? What exactly happened during my build to make the car lighter than Levi's? They were also clean. My car seemed to have a little better punch out of the hole and looked a little more nimble, but Levi's seemed to be a little more stable, could this be weight difference?
So I'm doing an experiment to see how much I can shave off of the vehicle to obtain a more nimble car with a little better acceleration, but I'm just curious what other peoples cars weighed.
So I'm starting this thread to keep a log for reference if someone happens to be interested what a car should or could weigh. |
