Ok guys I was asked by several guys today and I asked several racers myself what their thoughts are about the new format. Lets see what you have to say>>
Heres my 2 cents>
I like the way it groups the drivers according to lap times; however, It was brought to my attention that that with the number of expert drivers that usually show up I will never get to run an A main, (Im just not that fast so my $$$ at best is going to yeild 20-25 mins of actual track time per class for 13 hours at the track. I am not thrilled about that.
So who's got something to add... |

I really like the new format. I like racing with different racers. Racers I thought were good enough to run expert but were just to scared. This format also helps by weeding out the SAND BAGGERS. Frankie the question is how would you feel, or anyone that runs sportsman feel if they made the A-main. I think you would feel pretty damm good about it. |

well i would feel really good if i made the A or even the B for that fact but what happens when that so called better driver doesnt attend the first or second race or brakes and is thrown down in ths lower mains but is really faster it aint his fault hes gonna get put down there. you understand what im sayin?alot of drivers aint gonna go to rattlesnake or cvr or petaluma so your down from that missed race feel me?Is that right ? i wanna know if this is how its going cause that is how drivers are seeing.

I wish that I could have been able to make it but things happen. I'm glad to hear the change, that was my biggest complaint before was people sandbagging. This should help to clear some things up.
As far as people missing races or breaking well then your still finishing ahead of them becouse of the points. Consitency is where it pay's off. I see some fast drivers out there but they are easy to beat becouse they are alway's breaking and not finishing. Keeping your cars on the track and finishing the races is all part of it.
Hopefully I'll be back at it soon. |

I understand the first 4 races the format will be like saturday, but when round 5 begins and the championship cup class, div 1 ,div 2 and so on classes are made, will there be an A, B and C main for each class? In other words will the div 1 , and div 2 classes all have 20 or 25 min A mains or will it just be long 20 or 25 min A mains for the championship cup class only? If the championship class only gets the long mains it will mean the faster sportsman drivers that normally make the Amains will get much less drive time in division 1 or 2. Not sure how this will work.
Also I did hear from a few expert racers that they would rather not have to drive in the 1st qual with the beginner drivers......
One other question is how will the points from rounds 1 through 4 tranfer to round 5 when the classes are made.
Also I do agree Rick that there might not be enough racers to fill all classes at far away races like CVR and Rattlesnake. I know there was a great turnout saturday but although I would hope it would I dont think the attendance will be that high at every race. summertime guys usually have some family stuff come up, vacations,etc...
I'm usually ok with change, but with this there is just a few questions that guys have and hopefully Craig will chime in and address.......
I know at the drivers meeting he did say ,"Any questions guys"? But I think guys just needed a little time to take it all in.
With all of this said the race was ran fairly smooth with just one computer delay problem( stuff happens), Lookin forward to more bar bangin battles! thats for you Frank L.......JK

Plus 2 Steve, Bro you couldn’t have said it better, and I do hope Crag steps up to the plate and explains these questions that we have here in this forum. I don’t care for the new format, for my skill set I will always be in the lower mains that only run 10 min (or in this case at nor cal hobbies was cut back to 8 min without letting us know so it through off your pitting strategy) Two 5 min quals plus an 8 minute C main don’t cut it For the $30 entry fee. I did not care for the 40 minutes of wasted down time after the 2nd round of qualifying was over I can’t wait for the first four rounds to be over! |

I guess that's really the question Steve and Dennis, will usually lower-seeded drivers always end up in the shorter Mains for the first 4 rounds? My question is what happens to anyone who misses the first 4 rounds but shows up to race round 5? Will they be turned away, or how will their Division be determined? I was very inpressed with the facility at NorCal Hobbies, and apart from the announcer being a bit over-bearing on when you could start nitro engines the event seemed to be run very well. |

I like racing with other racers than I usually race with. The change is cool with me time will tell what happens and how it all shakes out.
One thing I did not appreciate yesterday was the "Nazi" I cant even warm up my nitro engine because the electric guys are running??? I dont understand the no smoking thing but I can respect it. Some mains got cut down in the middle of the race. Guys that had a pit strategy got that blown up and they didnt even know it was happening. I think Ill bring some zanax for that guy next time. hahaha |

I sent an email to kraig so hopefully sometime this week he'll give an explanation of the race format. I personally like the race format and think it allows everybody to step up there game a little and want to try and do better... If you think $30 dollars is too much for 18 minutes, then maybe you might not want to hit a big race or a JBRL event... I've personally went to 2 Silver State Races in Vegas, spent $500 and got 20 minutes of track time for being there 5 days. And last years JBRL I spent $200 and got 15 minutes of track time... Its racing and those are the breaks... I've been in the V Main before, Yes... V-MAIN, and it was a 5 minute main ran at midnight... Quality races, sometimes there is sacrifices.... Either way, I would love to see this Norcal Series be a series that most pros will want to attend, and rubbing some paint with the big dogs is always something fun to talk about. But as for the issue of not thinking you got your monies worth, well, hanging out at a cool place, with cool people and getting a lot of practice time with some good food available is well worth the 30 dollars... I had a wonderful time and glad a lot of you guys got to come down and experience my home track and the norcal RC series…. On to RiverFront Next… :) |

| There will always be people that are unhappy with how things change or how things are run. I think the important thing is to listen and not be defensive. Not that the current direction will change but communication is always better than a dictator. A race director or promoter has to be willing to take it all in and then proceed in the best direction for the whole. Remember without the racers spending their hard earned $$$ and showing up faithfully there is no race... |

i agree the new format is a great way to weed out the sandbaggers.
and running with the faster guys that run more clean lines... MADE ME FASTER!
i even made some changes to my truck as well as a tire change AND IMPROVED my qual time... No i didnt make the A main, But i did make mid pack B main and was in a bump spot until i had a diff let go it felt like a rear diff, but it was another front one. (third time that diff has striped)
You have to BRING your A game if you want to not run the lower mains.
and how many people are going to be in each devision? i heard 15-20 guys?
well thats 60 entries for 3 divisions? where do the rest of the people end up? |

Very well put Dennis. Now thats a successful approach. "Give the racers what they want" and "By the racer for the racer" those are priceless. He even actually used the word "dictator"
Smoke you had one hell of a day yesterday. Great job, lets see you maintain that kinda performance, or..... are you the master SB just hiding out??? JK |
